Real Life Stem Cell Stories
These are real stories from real people who have already been waiting too long for the promise of stem cell research. Read them -- and then take action:
1) Tell your elected
officials to get rid of outdated policies and regulations that have already
held up stem cell research for too long; 2) Make a donation to StemPAC, and
help us spread the word. It's a grassroots movement, and we don't need much --
but any amount helps.

My 8-year-old son, Michael, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 5. He takes 5-6 shots a day, checks his blood sugar 5-10 times a day. We are always balancing carbs, which raise blood sugar, with exercise and insulin doses, which lower blood sugar. Blood sugars that are too low can lead to fainting, and, in severe cases, seizures and coma. Blood sugars that are too high can, in the short-term lead to seizures and coma. Either one, left untreated, can be fatal. Over time, high blood sugars can cause kidney disease, heart disease, blindness and vascular disease.
Michael takes all of this in stride. He is smart, athletic, and adorable. Stem cell research may lead to a cure for my Michael and for millions of others with a host of incurable diseases and conditions.
