Real Life Stem Cell Stories

These are real stories from real people who have already been waiting too long for the promise of stem cell research. Read them -- and then take action:  1) Tell your elected officials to get rid of outdated policies and regulations that have already held up stem cell research for too long; 2) Make a donation to StemPAC, and help us spread the word. It's a grassroots movement, and we don't need much -- but any amount helps.

My father Has Multiple Myeloma a leukemia like blood cancer. He deserves to live. Stem Cells give him a chance he will not have without it.. I work in a 160 bed nursing home and watch happy normal adults turn into mindless incontenent zombies from alshimers, parkinsons, multiple sclrosis... ect. All possibly able to be cured by stem cells. The familes of these people watch their mothers, fathers, children, and other loved ones slowly suffer and become lost to them forever. The "loved ones" get to experince losing their minds and bodies helpless to stop it and knowing their familes have to watch, spending their life savings {average nursing home cost 86,000 dollars a year, thats the bed everything else gets billed extra.} For the last year of these "loved ones" lives their personalities, ability to think, and just about every thing that makes them "them" is gone. There is about as much personality inteligence and humaniity left at this point as in the tablespoon of jelly that would be the 400,000 stem cell embryos from the fertility clinics that were about to be throwen away in the trash before all the stem cell hoopla started. I challange any anti stem cell person to spend a few hours in a nursing home with an alshimers patient and think about this happening to there loved ones or themselves. How can we justify letting people suffer and die when there is a chance to help them? How do we justify protecting a tablespoon of jelly that would never been a person before stemcell research hoopla and letting hundreds of 17 & 18 year old people with lives and famlies who love them go die for, { NO not the end to horrible agonizing deseises for all mandkind and for ALL CHILDREN BORN TILL TIME ENDS}, but political ideas aka. the dead american troops from our conflict in Iraq and just about every person who ever died in a war.

We apprecate those who gave their lives to protect our political freedoms. But we still seem to have wars and kill more people every decade or so. and it wont stop. more soilders will be remembered on memorial day every year. We can't stop that at this time. But stem cells give us the opportunity to stop suffering and pain and the quality of life for people who are your loved ones now. people who will be your loved ones in the future. Yourself! ....and probably even advance medicine enough so those patriotic solders who go to war and die for us will be much less in number when they do fight for our petty human reasons for bickering. Support stem cell research. and if you find you moraly can't support it.. don't. But dont oppose it. give my father his chance at a cure. and you have the right to not use the medicine made. to save your father or child or even yourself.
